Deleted file

I know we have all been in this boat before. We are cleaning up our computer to make it run a little bit better. You keep deleting files. Few days or hours later you go looking for the file that was the book report that you had just wrote for school. Now you are practically crying because you just deleted a file that you really needed. Now you will have to write the whole thing over again. Sounds familiar to me, this I am sure is familiar to you too. Well like many of you i was like oh i will just download one of those programs that lets you find deleted files. So, i do but i then realize that it costs money if i even want the files that it is showing me. So then you write the whole entire thing again because $50 isn't worth it to you. Well i think i just might have a solution for you. This program is free and does the same things that a paid program would do, but as i said this one is free. It is called Recuva as in recover. I strongly think that you will get great results with this program. If you would like to get yourself a copy then just drop on by at http://www.recuva.com that is where you can download the file for free if you want it. So wait not longer, stop rewriting that 10 page report and just RECUVA it.

Photoshop or Gimp

Well almost every single person out there has used photo shop. It even comes on new computers if you don't mind just using a trial version. As most of you already know Photo shop is a very nice program for anyone who takes pictures, has website, sends pics, makes icons, and the list just seems to go on. It can do virtually any thing all the way from changing the background to even putting someone elses head on someone elses body. One of the major downfalls of photo shop is the price. Take a look at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html $649 is a big chunk of change if you ask me, even the lower down versions still cost like above $50. Needless to say no matter what you do if you want photo shop it will cost you a pretty penny or two. Now that we have discussed that lets move onto the alternative to Photo shop, it is called GIMP. To put it the most simple way that i can GIMP is like photo shop. It does almost every thing that photo shop at a fraction of the cost. It is very easy to use and one of the major things that i like the most about gimp is how easy it is to decrease the file size of a picture. See if you are like most people who have digital cameras and take lots of photos then the chances are you will also be putting them on your computer and be sending them off to friends and family. Well gimp can help you there. If you would like to go ahead and give gimp a try then i have more good news for you. The good news is that it only costs $0 yes that is right gimp is 100% free. So if i was you id stop waiting and rush on over to http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ and get yourself a free copy.

Microsoft Glitch that kills cd drive

OK so most people have itunes. We all love having music with us, especially when far from home. Well back a while ago we updated itunes on our laptop and mysteriously the CD drive stopped working. We tried everything possible. We even purchased a new CD drive. Before that we even un installed and reinstalled the CD drivers and guess what, it still did not work. Even after putting in a brand new refurbished CD drive straight from dell that was specifically for the XPS m1710. So in theory that should mean that it would work. So I installed the new drive and even then NOTHING. So after some research I discovered that this is a problem that windows has had for a fairly long time. So the way that one goes about fixing this problem is to go into the computers Registry. I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU MESS UP AND YOUR COMPUTER DOES NOT WORK SO FOLLOW CLOSELY. As i just stated proceed with caution you will be editing some files that are very crucial if you do not follow exactly you may cause more problems. Now there is also a easier fix which is just uninstall ITUNES, due to the fact they don't have a "vista compatible" version as of yet. Here it is:

For XP users open like my computer and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

For Vista Users

Step 1: Click start menu and in the search box type in regedit and click continue when a pop up box appears

Step 2: Maximize the HKLM and then go ahead and browse until you reach the key listed above

Step 3: Right Click on the folder for {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and choose to export it to for instance your desktop. (this is incase you mess up)

Step 4: In the right panel you’ll see something along the lines of “UpperFilter” and “LowerFilter” you want to click on each “filter” key and hit delete. Click yes when it asks to confirm if you wish to delete the key.

Step 5: Restart windows

Step 6: Notify me if it worked for you email me at demonkilleresmi@gmail.com

Be warned if you update itunes again or what not it will happen again and again.

Open Office

Well back a while ago at work we decided to buy a new computer. So we went to Best Buy and picked us up one. It isn't the most awesome computer, but it is good enough for work. So we hooked it up and all that and every thing was good. About 5 days later it gives me a pop up telling me that the Microsoft Office Suite that we have has expired. Now maybe it is just me but when i buy a computer i would imagine it would have all the basic things pre installed. For instance Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Well it did but only a very short trial version. The box for the computer even said it came with it but little did we know it only meant a trial version. So then we had to decide, go buy office or get for free. After some time of looking i came across Open Office ( http://download.openoffice.org/index.html ). The most awesome part about Open office is not only is it free but it has all the same things as Microsoft office but it is also free. Also just like FireFox open office also has a decent extension library for all those people who want a little bit more. So if i was you i wouldn't hesitate a second id run on over to http://openoffice.org/ and download your self a free copy. I highly doubt you will be let down after all with that $100 you just saved you could upgrade your computer.

Moola

Alright so i have decided that on Thursdays that I will do at least one post. The at least one post will have to do with ways to make money for free or for very little money. So here is the first way, Moola. In case you have not heard of Moola i will explain the basic concept to you. Moola is a website where you can play games for free and make some money. Here is the cool part. They give you a penny. So, with that penny you play one of the games, if you win you will then have two pennies. Now you have a choice you can either go all out and bet your two pennies on a game and then have a total of 4 pennies or you can bet one again. But, don't be nervous if you lose it all they will give you one penny again. You will always get at least one penny to bet. There is also a Moola Booster thing where you do offers and get more money, or you can do the search and spin thing. What that is is this search box where you type what you want to search. Sometimes you will get the Wheel which you spin and can win up to $1000 or as little as a penny. Moola is free to join and free to cash out. The catch is you must be invited. If you want a invite you can go to the site and go into the forums and request a invite or you can just email me directly at demonkilleresmi@gmail.com once again remember this site is free so you have nothing to lose at all.

Windows Vs Linux

Well I have recently taken two old computers and made it into one old computer with two hard drives. So here was my problem, I had to format the HDD due to the fact of it doing this wierd thing where all it would do is restart. So since I had lost my Windows XP Pro. cd a while back i was in a bit of a lets just say....pickle. So my alternate route was to install a copy of linux. I decided to go with the Sabayon version.

So i downloaded a copy and installed it. It installed with no problems and started up and everything worked. Now if you do go with linux you must know this, you may need to get some different drivers for your graphics card if you want all the bells and whistles that can be with it. Now it this is not like XP at all and I will say if you must use Windows please do use XP it is far less glitchy as vista.

Now as long as you get your drivers you can get some cool looking things like this.

Now if you have never ever seen linux type operating systems which by the way are FREE then I will tell you this. This picture is of the 3d desktop feature. What this does is makes it so on the one computer you can virtually have 4 yes i said FOUR desktops. So one can be for work, maybe one for school things, and of course one for games. Speaking of games the Sabayon linux download does include some games. If you already have games on your computer and you need them then you can look up how to install it and you can trick the game into thinking that it is on Windows.

Now if I had to choose according to simplicity I would go with windows simply because that is what I know. I would not by choice go with VISTA only go with XP if you have the choice. Now if you want visually appealing then look no further then a Linux OS.

Who needs Internet Explorer

What I hate the most is slow Internet. Even now I have "broadband" Internet yet it is not meeting its expectations. So I decided to give it a shot and I went to the "dark side". I went and downloaded Mozilla FireFox. I must say i am very pleased with it. Check it out here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ . Not only can it be way faster then IE but it can also be changed in almost every aspect to make it even more appealing. So no more plan layouts. Not only can you get a virtual plethora of backgrounds but the list of add ons is almost limitless. The most important one being Faster Fox. It has increased my browsing speed substantially. So stop using that Internet Explorer and join the band wagon of Fire Fox lovers. Once again it is http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ it is completely free of charge.
